Tell Me: Over or Under? Enter to Win One of Ten Cottonelle Gift Baskets
Cottonelle is getting to the bottom of a great debate raging across America. Cottonelle wants to know: how do you roll? Over or under? Vote for your preferred way to roll at CottonelleRollPoll.com.
Everyone has an opinion on the right way to roll – over or under – and both points-of-view have been argued in households for ages. This January, Cottonelle brand sets out to settle this Great Debate once and for all. Are you Team Over or Team Under?
I admit that I stand tall on my personal stance for team Over . Really, the science behind that is that we go through a lot of toilet paper in this 9 member household, plus many guests as we seemingly have an open door policy. Keeping it over in all 3 bathrooms in this house keeps it neat and accessible, and you're less likely to rip off tiny useless shreds! Plus, my dog really likes paper anything--and keeping it Over the kinda thwarts his attempts at toilet paper mutiny.
Leave a comment on this post & and tell me which team you roll with, and you will be entered to win 1 of 10 Cottonelle gift baskets randomly chosen on January 29, 2010 from all entries, with many thanks to Mom Bloggers Club and the super nice folks at Cottonelle.
Disclosure: This post is my entry into a contest for a month's worth of Cottonelle toilet paper as a member of the Mom Bloggers Club.

2010 High Resolution(s): @Twincere (That's me) Is Keeping It Simple
I really hate saying the R- word. Its difficult for me to make a list of resolutions because I feel that I am just setting myself up for failure. Let's make a resolution to not make resolutions! Ha! Bottom line: In the back of my mind I know what I need to do. We all do. 2009 was one heck of a year and I am desperate and anticipating for 2010 to be much better on so many levels, financially, personally, professionally. I will however, always count my blessings...because behind every gloomy, sodden cloud is a bit of sunshine that helps me make it through.
My personal weakness is finding the mental and physical stamina to stay motivated and invigorated in everything I do. I'll be 34 this Spring and honestly, running after 7 kids becomes utterly exhausting. Granted, living with chronic anemia and its unflattering side effects plays a role in that, but I know that I want so much more out of my life. Its going to be a good year, I can feel it in my nearly-middle-aged-bones.
Water on the brain
Drinking more water has been at the top of my resolution list for two years in a row. This is resolution that I've really worked hard to maintain, and this year will be no different.
Java Junkie
I will bequitting subtly reducing my expensive coffee habit and making it at home as often as willpower shall mandate. It’ll be just as good (maybe better, I pray I hope) if I steam the milk.
A Stroke of Genius
I will handwrite and or bespeak a note or words of thanks for every kind gesture big and small, as much as I can. It's so important to let someone know that they are appreciated and valued.
Liar Liar, pants on fire
I am going to stop lying to myself. Especially about things like my shoe size, clothing, and gray hairs: “I’m an 8, so what? P.S. I’m really a 10/12 . Ugh, I hate myself.”
Time After Time
I have personally taken a vow of punctuality. I have chronic issues with it, and I know its super annoying. Hubs says I'd be late for my own funeral.
New Heights
I want to try new, daring adventurous things. That means not being a wimp and actually braving the roller coasters at Busch Gardens and King's Dominion, with my kids and hubby....laughing all the way--instead of crying.
Rock ’Em, Sock ’Em
I want to wear matching socks more often. That means painstakingly devising a fool proof plan that entails the proper sorting and matching of the mountains of socks that is produced weekly in this 9 member household.
Grow a Pair
I want to not kill everything I touch. I am going to search the web over and try to turn this black thumb of mine green, once and for all!
Heck, Yes
I want to end the nay-saying with the naughts.I will work on being more positive. I will be the semi- Yes Mom and Yes-Wife.
Say It Ain't So
I'm working on deep cleaning my potty mouth. I'm a native New Yorker, easier said than done.
Resident Night Owl
I will be more consistent (even though I may be too tired to wash the makeup from my face) to treat my skin with love and respect and the best moisturizer, because this getting older bit sucks, bad.
Beauty Awaits No One
I will be more committed to getting my beauty sleep this year, even though the Night Shift at the hospital beckons me.
Stretch it to the Limit
I will take a a few moments to stretch and strengthen my body every day. This is something I've taken for granted for far too long. I shall cherish what little physical flexibility I have and work on regaining it.
Charitable Influences
As a family, we will continue to make an impact. Pick a charity, pluck a heartstring. Spending time together last year as a family and volunteering at our local FoodBank was a grounding and humbling experience for all of us. It truely is a hearwarming experience and makes one appreciate what they have.
Just Talk It Out
There will still be no texting at our dinner table. Practicing and perfecting engaging conversations will give our family lots to talk about.
French Toil and Trouble
I'd like to seriously brush up on my French, which is currently, ehm, how you say, mad rusty. It wouldn't hurt the effort if my fabulous Hubs were to conveniently dangle the new Costes 2 fragrance as le carrot.
Ohm-ni-perfect
I will be looking for a little peace and quiet among the harrowing screams, lost shoes,e-mail messages, texts, calls, teacher conferences, and hardscrabble lunches that often consist of the toddlers left overs. I will seek out my ethereal inner chi to transport me away from “humdrum noise” so that I can take a moment to be alone with my ideas.
Dieting
I'm swearing off my favorite guilty pleasures: French fries and real butter. Let me get back to this one.
Excercise
There will be more sex in 2010. Ugh, with my husband...not that we didn't do it a lot anyway. just sayin'

Happy New Year!
Its been a long December and there's reason to believe,
Maybe this year will be better than the last,
I can't remember all the times I tried to tell myself,
to hold onto these moments as they pass.
To all of my readers, old and new...thanks for sharing with me and bearing with me as I tread the waters both here and at Mommy's Multiple Mayhem, and here's wishing 2010 to be the best ever! Be safe, be merry, be wise...enjoy your family and loved ones tonight. I'll be thinking of you as I keep watch over my hospitalized patients tonight........till next year!

Simplify My Life Sweepstakes! Comment and Enter For A Chance to Win An HP 110 mini Netbook By Studio Tord Boontje!
The Mom Bloggers Club, one of the largest social networks for Mom bloggers, has collaborated with HP, Windows® 7, and five-time Olympian & super-Mom, Dara Torres. They want you to imagine how an HP Mini with Windows® 7 Home Premium could simplify your everyday tasks, work the way you want, and make new things possible.
Balancing family and home life, work, blogs & tweets, and scrounging for some semblance of a grown-up social life is utterly exhausting.Yet, as caretakers we do this methodically day in and day out.
I, for one, rely on computing to organize the day to day aspects of caring for my husband, 5 children and 2 nephews. Spreadsheets, lists, school projects, meal planning, email, shopping, photosharing, blogging and tweeting in my spare time, as well as the online courses that I am subscribed to as I tackle my graduate degree in Nursing. It would be a blessing to have a reliable and pleasantly portable computer, such as the HP 110 Mini Netbook, to help streamline, coordinate and simplify all of these aspects of my life--anytime and anywhere. Here's my attempt at poetic justice.
HP-Hear My Plea! Please, Simplify My Life
For the love of my family that I do adore,
all of our photos, documents, recipes and more
are entrusted to just one, lonely, desktop dinosaur.
Our burgeoning family has the highest faith and trust,
in an old, laggard machine that could soon bite the dust.
with Windows® 7 Home Premium and ease of portability,
and Integrated Wireless technology would get me online easily,
This way I could still shop, plan meals, share photos and tweet,
homework, blogging and bill paying would be no huge feat!
it affords style and functionality in a mobile companion that is real.
1. Want to win a HP Mini of your own? To be a "Simplify My Life" winner, Blog about how you’d use one to smooth the bumps in your crazy day and then tweet the link using the hashtags #HP and #Win7. The three most creative entries will win an HP Tord Mini of their own.

Post-Holiday Shopping Saviness
Fresh from a maddening Holiday Hiatus, yes the Holiday madness is over, sort of. Some of us really feel the let down after the holiday rush. We’ve put so much of our energy into decorating, entertaining, shopping and celebrating that when it’s all gone by we realize we haven’t really done anything for ourselves. Well, thank goodness for post-holiday sales and the Internet. No need to fight the crowds. There are tons of great offers online, so don’t even think about entering a store for some time. Here are some of the sales and popular styles I’ve had my eye on recently.
Dark Jeans
We love dark, boot cut jeans for most occasions, and these favorites are rarely on sale. Piperlime is the place to score.
Long Belted Cardigan
A very useful, belted cardigan at an enormously reduced price, just in time for the coldest days of winter.
Ruched BootsI love the ease of pull–on boots with a ruched shaft to fit nearly anyone, and this style (a favorite of celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe) is perfect for comfort too.
More Deals
It's the New Year's Sale at Macys.com! Customers can save on thousands of sale and clearance items + everyday values! This offer is valid December 30th through January 3rd.The Kids Too!
Who doesn't love See Kai Run shoes (one of my boys had particularly wide feet that fit very few brands other than these), and adorable slip–on walker sneakers are on sale now.Baby, it's cold outside - so Giggle is warming things up with their winter sale! Shop now and save 15-75% on select gear, clothing, furniture, and more!
Hanna's Big Big Twice A Year Sale On Now. Save Up to 60% On Quality Kids Clothes.
Get up to 80% off at The Land of Nod sale.
Great Resources
There are many great one-stop shopping sources for fashion, and one of our favorites is ShopItToMe.com. It’s like a personal shopper that lets you know the minute certain brands, styles and sizes go on sale. It's great for finding sales on items you love, but can’t afford at full price. On average, members save over 40% on over 600 brands, and you can choose how often you are alerted so it doesn’t clog your inbox. There are many great online shoe sources, and only Shoes.com is offering you a savings of 15% through the end of the year with promo code SNOW and 20% on clearance and sale items with the code WINTER (until 1/4/10), plus free shipping is extended through January 31st.

Allstate's "Thumbs Up for the Safest Holiday Ever" Campaign
The Allstate Foundation's Safe Teen Driving Initiative
Climbing behind the wheel means freedom and independence for teenagers. Kids everywhere wait impatiently for the day they hit that special age and their parents finally hand them the keys to the family car. But studies by The Allstate Foundation have found that teens are particularly susceptible to dangerous distractions, highlighting the need for parents to sit down early on with their teens to discuss safe driving.
These days, more and more teenagers own up to using their cell phones to text while driving. According to The Allstate Foundation, two thirds of teens admit to texting and instant messaging behind the wheel! Yet nearly 81% of teens rate parents as their number one driving influencers. Knowing this, how can we as Moms not take steps to ensure we set a good example and make safe driving a priority? Especially when recent research by Virginia Tech's Transportation Institute reveals that texting while driving can increase the risk of an accident by 23 times.
Allstate's "X the TXT: Thumbs Up to the Safest Holiday Ever" campaign challenges teens and parents alike to make the pledge not text and drive. By joining the cause at www.causes.com/thumbsup, you're pledging to put your cell phone down behind the wheel. For each person who takes the pledge, Allstate will donate $1 to the National Organizations for Youth Safety (NOYS) – a collaborative network of national organizations and federal agencies that serve youth and focus on youth safety and health – for safe teen driving programs.
As part of the campaign, a 30-city "X the TXT," tour kicks off this holiday season during which teens and their families can add their thumbprints to a pledge banner as a public commitment not to text and drive. Click here www.Allstate.com/teen to go to Allstate's website to download the Allstate Family Texting Pledge and start the conversation about responsible driving with your family.

Prayers For Shellie
Bryson Drago Ross
December 14th, 2009.
This memorial photo is from Kimberly at She Scribes
I want to express my deepest sympathies to a fellow blogger, Shellie, aka @Military_Mom ( Blog4Mom.com ) who lost her precious baby boy, last evening in a horrible drowning accident in the pool in the backyard of their new home. Little Bryson was only two years old. http://tinyurl.com/yag6vvj
As a mom, I could never imagine or understand the depth of the pain and heartwrenching agony from losing a child. Sadly enough to admit, I pray that I never have to have those feelings. No parent is ever prepared for such tragedy. When I read about this last night on twitter, my heart became so achey and heavy that I needed to trod upstairs and touch and love on all my kids. Of course, they were sleepy and didn't understand and were quite grumpy. I felt so consumed, and was feeling bad at scolding the boys earlier for making a mess, and maybe I was a little too tough on the girls about their chores....none of that really matters. What matters most is that we are a family and that we are together, and face it, LIFE is short.
We should be living in the moment, rather than always worrying about what's going to happen tomorrow, next week or even next month.I know that I myself am guilty of getting so wrapped up in the hustle and bustle of life that I find little time to enjoy the blessings that I have today.
The holidays are supposed to be about the Savior, and being with our loved ones, and creating and holding onto memories to cherish for a life time. The Face of Tragedy does not fit into that equation.
I don't know Shellie on a personal level, but my heart still aches for her and her family.
Please keep Shellie and her family in your deepest thoughts and prayers. I implore you to take the time out today to cherish your family, hold your children and significant other close, pick up the phone and make ammends with that long lost relative, forgive someone that needs your forgiveness, let bygones be bygones and live for today, in the moment--and hold onto that for as long as you possibly can.

My 3 year old nephew, Nick, really loves counting and solving problems with Thomas the Train and Scooby Doo on the V-Motion™ Active Learning System. It is definately geared to his level. Set up of the system was easy . I did not expect Playstation 3 graphics, so I am satisfied with the quality in graphics. The quality did not suffer any more on my 42" LCD than a smaller tv as some others have complained about. Bottom line: if you are looking for high quality graphics comparable to other high profile gaming systems, look elsewhere.
The functionality is great--its ambidextrous, suitable for both right and left handed players. You have the option of joystick or motion capabilities with each V-Motion game. It's functionality is very much comparable to a wireless remote.
There is a vast amount of learning content which varies from shapes, letter, number and color identification, math, logic, etc. The games are broken up into 3 categories: 3-5, 4-6 and 6-8 years old. There is overlapping, by that I mean my nephew can play and enjoy the 4-6 age category despite being only 3 years old. It all depends on their educational level and with enough supervision and proper guidance your child will not be limited to a particular category. I advise that the first time your child plays a game you walk him through it. The best part of all is that all the smartridges are compatible with the vmotion. All V-smile games and accessories work on this system, expanding your library of gaming options. Most games also have a difficulty option giving you the ability to choose easy or difficult, so as they progress, it can become more challenging. This is also great for households with younger and older children. I also find that using the motion controller helps develop my young nephew's hand and eye coordination.

I am excited and finalizing my plans to attend BlogHer 2010, which was announced that it will be in NYC at the Hilton New York from August 5-7th. NYC happens to be my stomping grounds so I am beyond ecstatic and am still planning my itinerary. I had a lofty goal of reaching 4,000 Twitter followers and/or 1000 blog followers/subscribers by 11:59 pm EST Wednesday, November 21, 2009. Update: I didn't quite make my goal the first time around, but the results were still significant and very much appreciated. I figure it creates a buzz and some very happy Multiple Blessings and Mommy's Multiple Mayhem readers if I change it up very now and again and offer something inspiring. Have fun with it! Deadline to enter is 11:59 pm EST on January 29, 2010.
