✮Product SpotLight & Discussion: UnitedHealthcare StudentResources Review ✮

AdoraPet
Welch's AquaJuice - Apple
Let's face it, helping our children settle into a routine for the new school season can be a daunting task, mostly because there's so much Moms and caretakers need to do to get everyone ready for the new school year. I know I am gridlocked right now as I balance my kids schedules and extra-curricular activities. As a Mom and a Nurse, I worry about my kids safety and their protection while at school or their after school activities. MomSelect has partnered with UnitedHealthcare StudentResources, (www.K12StudentInsurance.com) a division of and underwritten by UnitedHealthcare Insurance Company, who has been dedicated to student insurance programs for over 40 years. UHCSR focuses on students, and they have a better understanding of the unique needs of this age group (children 5-18 years old).

The Health Plan is also known as Injury and Sickness Insurance. "School is not a spectator sport. From hopping and skipping to blocking and tackling, our commitment to protecting kids starts as early as kindergarten. Kids will be Kids, that's why we're here"
Is your child uninsured? If your children are uninsured, this health plan may be the answer to protecting your children’s health.

As a Mom of several lovely, but often accident prone children (2 broken appendages so far this year, +1 child with newly diagnosed scoliosis) I was a bit curious as to what UnitedHealthcare StudentResources had to offer for Moms and caretakers like me.
My children attend public school within the City of Virginia Beach, Virginia. I researched further and was excited to come upon an opportunity to discuss some key aspects of UnitedHealthcare StudentResources plan with Ms. Racheal Beasley, the administrative business manager from Alliance Christian Academy, a private school in my nearby Portsmouth, Virginia. Alliance Christian Academy is overseen by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). Most national ACSI private schools offer and recommend UnitedHealthcare StudentResources plan to their students. Ms. Beaseley highly endorses it as well, stating that it offers "...relief to families so that they have peace of mind in knowing that their children are covered and protected under this affordable, customizable plan."

This part of Virginia that I live in is very transient, with a lot of military families who come and go. Another key aspect about the policies that I like was the fact that in the event of a student transfer or move; the policy continues in force anywhere in the world if the covered person should relocate prior to the expiration of coverage. Here are some commonly asked questions:

Q: What is the Health Plan (Injury & Sickness Plan)?
A: The UnitedHealthcare StudentResources Health Plan provides benefits for loss due to a covered injury or sickness up to the maximum benefit for each injury or sickness. The coverage is effective the date the application and premium are received in our office or the first day of the school year, whichever is later, and continues until the end of the premium payment period or the end of the policy period, whichever date is sooner. This plan covers sickness & accidents which happen anytime, 24-hours per day, while your student is covered under this plan (excluding interscholastic sports).
Q: Our family is moving. Will I need to reapply in our new location?
A: If you move AFTER the insurance effective date, your policy is "grandfathered" and you are covered for the remainder of the policy effective period.
Q: Do I have to insure all of my students at once?
A: You may insure one or all. If you decide to insure some of your students now and some at a later date, you are free to do so. Simply return to the site and select Enroll Now to enroll additional students.

  1. This is a very interesting review. I'd never even heard that such a thing as insurance for kids at school exsisted. Although my daughter is only 19 months old and won't be in school for awhile (I'm sure it'll go by much to fast!) I found this interesting. Thanks for the information! :)

  2. Gosh I am 51 years old and remember bringing home an 'insurance brochure' each year when I was in school. I really don't recall my daughter ever bringing one home. We live in Alabama and they have a program where all children have insurance coverage, thank God!!
But, even though she was not officially a child my daughter had to pay for Cobra insurance on her dad's policy between graduating from college and finding a job that provided insurance.
All kids should have insurance no matter what...one never knows what is going to happen from one day to the next.
